2012 Lunar Contact by JD Clarke

Description

***NEW REVISED EDITION***
PROFESSIONALLY EDITED
08/21/2012

Thanks to all my readers for making 2012 Lunar Contact such a great success. It is now in the top 100 Best Selling Science Fiction Novels and sales continue to grow. And a big thank you to everyone that took the time to email me with your comments, praise for the book, and request for a sequel. The Sequel will be coming soon! (I am still packing more action into it.)
Thanks again,
JD Clarke

Synopsis
An alien civilization has come to our system and it's not Earth they are interested in, but the riches of our moon. Unfortunately their mining of the moon threatens Earth. An intrepid group of astronauts are given the mission of making contact with the aliens that have so far ignored humans. What follows is anything but what was planned, as they get swept up into a war between beings that travel faster than light and operate on a technology beyond Newtonian physics.

This is fast paced action, science fiction based on science without the fluff.

What it is not: Fantasy worlds, flowery prose, pages of detailed descriptions of minute details that slow the story.

Reviews
“Eighteen months ago I read all of Jack Campbell's "Lost Fleet" series in two months and thought it was the best space opera I had read since EE Smith's Gray Lensman. I just finished reading 2012 Lunar Contact. Move over Jack Campbell, there's a new sheriff in town.
JD Clarke has put together a story with believable characters. He paints with words like an artist with a brush. The story doesn't bog down and the action is never ending and for me, there was the special treat of sentient computers and software. I had to love this story.”

“I really liked the premise of the book and the "this could happen tomorrow" feeling Clarke gives to the book with the 2012 date in the title. The book started a little slow and I actually stopped reading it to read another book. However, I picked it up again during a long airplane flight and got totally obsessed with it. I can't stop thinking about it even after I've finished it. Although the author is new and is still picking up skills (the author writing skills actually improve visibly the further I got into the book) the imagination and underlying sci-fi are compelling.
I had an early meeting this morning and was late for it because I stayed up so late last night reading this book. When I saw the sequel is not yet out I had a bit of a fit this morning.
In short, character development could be better and the introduction could use some work but I'd still give this book a 4.5 out of 5. It has become one of my favorites. If there was a hard back edition, I'd buy it - just to save it for reading a few years from now.
I'm a big fan of this author now and I'm eagerly awaiting the next book.”

“The beginning of the book reminded me of the start of the movie "District 9". I like how the book started and the mission to the moon. I only knew, before purchasing the book, that the crew was going to the moon. So when the rest of the 95% of the book happened it was a surprised and my Kindle Fire was literally 3 inches from my face till the end. Great characters and personalities in the book. Character development is also interesting, and shows how some change and progress. Great book. I recommend it to readers.”
