The Rediscovery of Me: Reinventing Life after Divorce by Dr. Marcia Brevard Wynn
Description
After 22 years of marriage, I found myself in unfamiliar territory. I was unexpectedly removed from the statistics of what society deems as successful marriages and placed among the growing statistics of new divorcees thrown into this category as the result of an affair. In an effort to accept my new status, I went through a process of self-reflection, introspection, reinvention and rediscovery. Everyone’s divorce story is different. Maybe you had been married for decades, maybe just a year or so. Maybe you have children, maybe you don't. Maybe the divorce was your idea and maybe it was your partner’s. Maybe you’re relieved, maybe you're heartbroken, or maybe even a bit of both. For me, the bottom line was that this was my life now and the biggest questions I had for myself were “Where do I go from here?” “How do I figure out who I am and what I want as a newly single person?” “What do I want my new life to look like, and how do I start moving in that direction?” I discovered that just because marriage is meant to be forever doesn’t mean that the aftermath of a divorce has to be. This book is simply my story and my opinion of how to make it through what is a tough time for any woman who is in the midst of a divorce or who has finalized a divorce. I hope that my experience can help other women recover more quickly.
